Aujourd’hui we decided to head over to Montmartre. But before we went we visited ‘our’ market. It is an amazing transformation. Each morning many produce vendors – and book, clothes, knick knack sellers – set up their stalls. We buy our daily fruit and veggies. Then by 3:00 p.m. the square is totally empty! This happens six days per week.

We navigated le métro to Montmartre, coming out just at the Moulin Rouge. The Can Can is still performed here although apparently the show is not as ‘raunchy’ as it used to be (according to the guide). We headed up – and up we walked – towards La Basilique du Sacre Coeur. It is a very beautiful église with a magnificent view from the tower, a mere 406 steps to the top.

We encountered tourists ici. The most that we have seen since we arrived. We wondered how crowded it would be in the summer. “People watching” at a café here was quite interesting. Many nationalities, student groups, families with small children. It is in Montmartre that Picasso and Salvador Dali set up ateliers (studios).

After our day of sightseeing we have begun to look forward to having un verre du vin and du fromage on our private terrace. A wonderful perk of our little piece of paradise in Paris.

À bientôt!

Sounds like a pretty busy day. The market sounds great, especially since you can shop for other stuff besides just food. I could spend a lot of time there. I wondered what the windmill was all about, thought maybe you got lost and ended up in Holland.

Oh how cool is that! The question is… will you be able to converse en Englais when you return? How nice to move slowly through the pleasures of Paris. Thank you for the pictures and the insights.
